Future Farming Initiative:
bio-manufacturing
is the next frontier

we look at CEA technologies from a broader perspective: what began as mastering plant cultivation in any environment now embraces other life-forms an the creation of the ideal conditions where they become powerful bio-factories. It’s about enhanced food, cosmetics, biopharmaceuticals, sustainable materials having Nature co-manufacturing with us

the potential for Nature-inspired manufacturing is enormous. According to BCG and Hello Tomorrow’s report “The World Economic Forum has estimated that the disruption could lead to annual business opportunities worth $10 trillion and create 395 million jobs by 2030 (…). For companies in such industries as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, agriculture and food supply, and advanced materials and manufacturing, the disruption is likely to be greater than anything that digital technologies have wrought.”

you need the right tech tools: on top of CEA, from synthetic biology to precision fermentation, we are building an ecosystem where each technology amplifies the others. FFI is a collective effort pooling expertise from emerging startups and established market leaders to achieve more, and faster, than any single actor could. Future Farming Alliance is the federation of partners with complementary capabilities and aligned vision we created to spread the word and do things together

FFI is as a unique gateway to ideas, talent, and intellectual property sourced from the Italian R&D ecosystem. It’s a collaboration between ZERO and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice endorsed by the Italian Ministry of Research and backed by PNRR funds to accelerate technology transfer from lab to market. We are proudly part of the Government’s Piano Mattei for Africa to export enabling technologies to emerging countries. On top of our 10.000 sqm of labs, we have access to state of art facilities across all the major Italian research institutions

Future Farming Initiative is where advanced research accelerates to market, and where Future Farming reaches its full scope
